Trash The Dress

By: Maria Elizabeth

Trash the dress. Not something one typically does with an expensive gown that was worn on their wedding day. But for some that first day was a beginning to a world of abuse.

According to the CDC, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience physical violence by their intimate partner at some point during their lifetimes. This abuse can be mental, physical, or both. Trashing the Dress is about moving on and taking back your own power, to feel strong, and create a healthier life around you with peace.

I created my Trash the Dress book to raise awareness of abuse, and to let everyone know there is always a safe way out of any bad situation. 50% of proceeds from each sale of Trash the Dress will be donated directly to the Abbie Shelter in Kalispell Montana, who have been helping people since 1976.
